    Katie & Family:

I heard about your illness through a friend of a friend. You and your family should take comfort in the fact that there are people praying for you that don't even know you. How awesome is that! I also sent your name to my sister's church prayer list in W.Va., so they will be praying for you too. Stay strong, you are in good hands.

    Mark 5
40 ...Then he (Jesus) took the girl's father and mother and his three disciples into the room where the girl was lying. 41 Holding her hand, he said to her, "Get up, little girl!" 42 And the girl, who was twelve years old, immediately stood up and walked around! Her parents were absolutely overwhelmed.

    To Melrose and Family,

I was so glad that the congregation as a whole prayed specifically for Katie during yesterday's service. Also, Marsha led the children in prayer for Katie during Sunday School and during the children's sermon.

Katie's name was on the heat sheet for the ASL meet this weekend. It was a constant prayer reminder of the talented swimmer who is fighting courageously to win a much different type of event. I think you all know how much the swimmers miss her and are cheering her on.

    We love you!!

    Good Morning, Katie.

We are so glad you and your family are feeling the love and prayers of all your friends in the community. You are very special to so many. In the service at Trinity yesterday Marsha prayed with the children for you to be free to fulfill God's purpose in your life. That is our prayer for you as well. We are thinking of you daily and we send all our good wishes to you for a complete recovery. My sister and I look forward to you and your Mom sitted in front of us in Church very soon.

Love to you and your family,

Dearest Katie, On Christmas 1994 your mother gave me the book Illuminata by Marianne Williamson and she highlighted this prayer. This is for you and Melrose, Ron and Paul. Dear God, With this prayer I call to mind my friends. I ask for Your blessing on them. May angels fill their nights and bless their days. May they find joy and peace and harmony. May our bond be strong and based on truth. May they always know that in me and Thee, they have support. Thank You God. Love, Shirley

    Dear Katie and family,

After all these years, there is still a picture of Katie on my desk at school (from pajama day 1999 where we ended up looking like twins). I have that picture on my desk to help remind me everyday why I am a teacher--because I might just have the chance to be part of the life of students like Katie! It is because of students like you, Katie, that people become teachers. My family and friends here in Charlotte are praying for your safe recovery. Having spent four years at MCG, my husband assures me you are in great care. Take care...

    Love,

Dear Katie, We are praying for you...many times throughout the day you are in our prayers. We pray that your mom and dad can stay strong and patient throughout this ordeal. It is hard to totally depend on the doctors, nurses and staff at the hospital when they are in control of your treatment. But, God is present and He will bring you through this. You are strong and you are a fighter. God knows this. Your doctors also are connected with Him. He gives them the wisdom and skills to heal. Thank you to your brother Paul for keeping us informed in such an efficient and loving way. We are anxious to hear good news tomorrow. Bless you all. Fran and Ron Weber

    Melrose and family,

I learned from Paul’s update that the tough battle continues. What a team of devoted medical personnel, family, church family, school and community friends! Few people ever know the self-discipline, mental and physical toughness, and the endurance of a Group 1 competitive swimmer. My prayer is that God will use Katie’s endurance training to help her hang on during this terribly tough and long race. Hang in there for all of us. God Bless!!!

    Katie,

My wife and I have been praying for you since we first heard of your illness last week. We are thankful you were in such great physical condition due to your competitive swimming and pray the doctors will find the cause and solution for your illness very soon. We think of you many times a day and have asked many friends to join us in praying for you. I forward each of Paul's updates to all of the members of the Pairs and Spares Sunday School class and other friends, who are all praying for a speedy recovery for you and strength for your family.

Katie - I am praying daily for your full recovery. Much love to you - Your Cousin, Deborah

Glory be to Thee, O Lord my God! I beg of Thee by Thy Name through which He Who is Thy Beauty hath been stablished upon the throne of Thy Cause, and by Thy Name through which Thou changest all things, and gatherest together all things, and callest to account all things, and rewardest all things, and preservest all things, and sustainest all things - I beg of Thee to guard this handmaiden who hath fled for refuge to Thee, and hath sought the shelter of Him in Whom Thou Thyself art manifest, and hath put her whole trust and confidence in Thee.

She is sick, O my God, and hath entered beneath the shadow of the Tree of Thy healing; afflicted, and hath fled to the City of Thy protection; diseased, and hath sought the Fountainhead of Thy favors; sorely vexed, and hath hasted to attain the Wellspring of Thy tranquillity; burdened with sin, and hath set her face toward the court of Thy forgiveness.

Attire her, by Thy sovereignty and Thy loving-kindness, O my God and my Beloved, with the raiment of Thy balm and Thy healing, and make her quaff of the cup of Thy mercy and Thy favors. Protect her, moreover, from every affliction and ailment, from all pain and sickness, and from whatsoever may be abhorrent unto Thee.

Thou, in truth, art immensely exalted above all else except Thyself. Thou art, verily, the Healer, the All-Sufficing, the Preserver, the Ever-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

    - Bahá'u'lláh

We thank You, Father, that Katie dwells in the secret place of the Most High God and abides under the shadow of the Almighty. I am praying and thinking of you constantly. I know that your strength and faith in God will get you through. I pray for your family, as they are going through this time, that God will be with them. I pray that God will give your doctors the guidance that they need to help you get through. We all miss you in study hall, Katie. It's not the same without you! Keep fighting.

Melrose and family - You are all on the top of the Stuckey prayer list where you will remain. Katie, you are an athlete from good strong genes (have you ever watched your mom work-out?!) What a great combination to overcome this. Thank you Paul for the information. You are correct in your praise of MCG. We are blessed to have that incredible facility and so close by. Again Katie, we are all pulling for you in this race! Catherine Stuckey

    Melrose and family,

We're so thankful to hear the positive news from Paul's update 7. Please know that so many of us are ready and waiting to help in practical, hands-on ways. Please let Greg know your needs so that he can put us to work when you are ready. (Melrose, you are so much the helper/giver, I can imagine that it is tough to ask others to do for you).

    Our prayers continue.

    Love,
    Shirley Darracott and family

    Dear York family,

Though we don't know you personally, our lives are connected through many friends at BSF, First Baptist Augusta, and the swim community. We have prayed daily for Katie since we learned of her illness. We pray specifically for wisdom for the physicians and nurses, peace for your family and strength and courage for Katie. May God be honored and glorified as we trust in Him to meet these needs.

    Dear York Family,

Our 6 year old daughter, Rachel, had neurosurgery last January at MCG. She had just about every complication known to medical science (including seizures and meningial lesions). I share your pain and understand the emotional "roller coaster" all too well.

In concert with some of the finest medical personnel at MCG, we were witnesses to a miraculous healing in Rachel. Today, a little more than a year post surgery, Rachel is tumor, lesion and seizure free!

We are convinced that God interceded on Rachel's behalf as a result of the many people praying for her. You can take great comfort in the fact that so many people are praying for your precious Katie. I will certainly do my part by adding her to my personal prayer list as well as the lists of the praying bodies at St. Mark United Methodist Church. We started by praying for her at choir practice last night.

    Trust in God,

My heartfelt prayers go out to Katie and her family. My sister called me in Texas and asked me to pray for Katie. I told a friend, and she has also spread the request to her sister in California. Please know that there are more prayers headed your way.
