Katie Update #6
Bad news arrives more quickly than good news in this battle that Katie
is fighting. They started waking Katie's brain up this morning. Things
were progressing well, and dad and I left for home around 9:30 this
evening only to be called back less than an hour later. Our Katie was
still having seizures. The neurologist stayed late monitoring her, and
tried a different, more aggressive drug treatment (high-dose depakote)
to try and curb the attacks. It showed some initial promise, but
immediately after the neurologist left for the night, Katie started
having seizures again. I think I stared at the EEG monitor for two hours
praying for no more seizures. While they improved slightly with the new
drug, they did not stop, so they have put her brain back to sleep for now.
It appears that the doctors have tried most of the conventional
treatments for Katie's symptoms. Tomorrow they are sending her down for
an MRI to try and see if they can see anything to help them in better
targeting their treatments. They assure us that there are other
potential options for treatment. We are holding on to this hope as
tightly as possible...

Katie and York Family,
We are praying for Katie's strength to fight this terrible infection and for Jesus to wrap his tender arms around all of you and provide safety and comfort. It seems like I stop every few hours in my day to offer up a prayer for her healing and recovery. My sisters church and my dads church in Wisconsin are praying for y'all. Know that you are blessed and loved.

To the York Family,
Paul, you are doing a wonderful job of keeping us informed; your updates are concise, and well written. Thank you for doing it.
I do not know any Bible verses to help ease your pain and frustration, but I have said all the prayers I know (2) many times over in Katie's behalf. Please know that I am very sincere in hoping for a quick and complete recovery for Katie and relief for the entire family.
Love,
Nancy Bush

Praying that God will restore Katie's strength and will give Melrose, Ron, Paul and all of your family patience and comfort as you wait and trust in His care. Bless the doctors who are caring for her that they will provide the right treatments to restore Katie to full health. Please know that you all are in my prayers throughout the day. God bless you all.

Katie, Melrose, and Ron,
I watch listen and pray daily for all of you. Melrose, I have mentioned to you how Lauren looks up to Katie as a wonderful, nice girl and great swimmer. God is the Creator of all beautiful and perfect things. I pray that his beautiful creation in Katie will recover to shine her light and be a blessing to all of us again.
Much Love,
Mark Bowling
